Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture™ is a 501(c)(3) organization that brings together a diverse alliance of grower groups; agribusiness companies; food, fiber, restaurant and retail companies; conservation groups; universities and public sector partners to focus on promoting, defining and measuring the sustainability of row crops for food, feed, fiber and fuel production.

Field to Market seeks a Sustainability Data Analyst, who will play a key role in the organization’s agricultural and sustainability-related grants that provide technical and financial assistance to U.S. commodity producers, measure the effectiveness of conservation practices, and track greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions and environmental co-benefits.

Contingent on a recent grant award contract, this position will be funded for at least five years and may be extended based on the success of the program. The role will report to the Director of Science and Research and will heavily interface with the Grants Program Director, MMRV Manager and other technical and scientific functional leads.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide broad data analysis support across reporting data sets generated from multiple grant-connected continuous improvement projects.
  • Provided support or outreach to grant partners on data analysis and reporting needs and requirements.
  • Perform data aggregation, quality assurance and control, automation, and process improvement and generate routine and ad-hoc data insights and reporting products.
  • Conduct agronomic data research on additional crops as well as sustainability metrics, benchmarks, and indicators, to enhance Field to Market’s programs. 
  • Conduct literature reviews and perform analysis on diverse science topics to inform decision-making.
  • Perform analysis and synthesize field-level results from the Fieldprint Platform and environmental models for program development and reporting.
  • Work alongside other grant team members on a routine basis, including science, data, and technology team members, to accomplish grant goals and deliverables.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned and necessary to support program activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, or equivalent combination of education and work history in data science, environmental science, or another related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in a role focused on data analysis and visualization, preferably related to science, agriculture, and/or climate. A graduate degree may be substituted for two years of experience. Exceptional candidates with strong internship experiences during their Bachelor's degree will also be considered.
  • Impeccable analytical, organizational, and data management skills with the ability to manage large and complex data sets with an eye toward process improvement, quality assurance, and quality control.
  • Experience performing data analysis using Excel, Python, or R with a focus on code documentation and work traceability.
  • Familiarity with GHG accounting protocols, standards, methods and tools, agricultural conservation practices, geographic information systems, and verification approaches is desirable.
  • Familiarity with basic geospatial tools and/or creation of maps with open-source tools.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.

  • Travel required: up to 15%. Travel and other work-related assignments may include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

This position is hybrid, based in Washington, D.C. Currently, staff are in the office one day per week (more often as needed) and remote for the remainder. However, fully remote capabilities will be considered for the right candidate.

Compensation: 

This is a full-time exempt position. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience starting at $70,000.
