$90,000.00 To 120,000.00 Annually

Job Overview:
The Process Engineer is responsible for engineering efforts related to Carbon America’s experimental and future product systems. This includes designing and analyzing whole system processes, managing system and subsystem requirements, and techno-economic optimization. The Process Engineer should have knowledge in thermodynamic processes and cycles, risk management, techno-economics analysis, heat exchangers, compressors, expanders, pumps, valves, sensors and instrumentation, and process design optimization. The process engineer will report to the Director of Process Engineering, R&D.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Required
- 3+ years of experience in process engineering in a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and calculations
- Experience with ChemCAD (preferred), ASPEN, or similar type of thermodynamic modeling package
- Expertise in reading and creating HMBs, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening skills
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to track lots of disparate details
- BS, MS, or PhD in Chemical Engineering or related discipline

Preferred
- Expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics

  • Techno-economic optimization experience
  • Experience in Julia, Python, or other programming language 
  • Dynamic modeling of thermal-fluid systems
  • Energy sector and/or power plant knowledge
  • Experience working on R&D pilot projects

Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage requirements for experimental projects to ensure successful completion of test objectives
- Prepare specifications for system components (valves, pumps, compressors, expanders, heat exchangers)
- Perform technical studies and preparation of technically correct and effective engineering analysis and deliverables for review.
- Design carbon capture system processes for hardware experiments and future Carbon America technology products
- Analyze techno-economics of system balance of plant options
- Drive results through the development, implementation and maintenance of rigorous processes, tools, schedules, and metrics
- Manage risks for experiments and the broader product development effort
- Make use of and apply general knowledge of various engineering disciplines to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues.

General Requirements and Job Details:
- Must be able to work at a computer for at least eight hours per day
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States 
- This position is based out of our Arvada, Colorado offices
- This position has a standard schedule of Monday through Friday and is Full-Time
1. This is a salaried position so there may be times when a non-standard schedule is required.
- The salary for this role is dependent on the level of the candidate. A senior-level position will have a salary range of $90,000 - $120,000
