Are you ready to rise to the challenge of climate change with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing pioneering energy storage technologies to enable the electric grid to run on 100% renewable energy, every day of the year.

Supported by leading investors such as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, ArcelorMittal, TPG Rise, MIT’s The Engine, and others, we share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage is the key to enable tomorrow’s zero carbon electric grid. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, we are deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?

Role Description
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Module Mechanical Design group, which develops the core battery module and support systems in Form Energy’s long-duration energy storage system. You will own the design of components and assemblies from concept to production, with a strong emphasis on design for manufacturing and assembly. You will creatively solve mechanical design challenges while applying your knowledge of designing plastic components for mass manufacturing. Expect to work with cross-functional teams on requirements definition and validation plans, then deliver a design that meets those requirements. To bring your designs to life, you should be comfortable working in a prototype shop environment, as well as communicating with manufacturers to deliver an optimized, production-ready design. Finally, be prepared to troubleshoot design problems as they arise and work with the Module Mechanical Design team to implement improvements.

What You'll Do:

- Lead the design of components integral to the battery module fluid handling systems
- Develop functional requirements in close collaboration with members of the Battery Products and Systems teams
- Perform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes
- Release designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)
- Demonstrate design functionality through analysis (e.g. FEA, CFD) and component- or system-level testing
- Work with vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production
- Collaborate with testing teams to define and execute validation test plans

What You'll Bring:

- BS required in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design
- Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and drafting
- Working knowledge of component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), ideally plastic components
- Knowledgeable about fabrication and prototyping techniques
- Comfortable in a shop/lab environment
- Familiarity with validation testing
- Experience working with fluid handling systems a plus
