Position Overview
The R&D Continuous Improvement Leader will serve as a facilitator, educator, and coach to the Global R&D organization to continuously improve the way we work. You will work with leadership to develop a continuous improvement roadmap and will lead continuous improvement projects with focus on 1) exceeding our challenging technology and organizational performance, delivery, and quality objectives, 2) driving successful transition of new products to our global factories, and 3) improving global operations and knowledge sharing across R&D and with our stakeholders. This role will require travel domestically and internationally to Germany and Korea.
Please Note: This role is remote with 30% Travel.

Responsibilities

  • Drive process improvement projects and initiatives, including methods, tools, roadmap systems, and deployment.
  • Present continuous improvement strategies, roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leaders
  • Communicate recommendations and solutions across direct organization and with cross-functional partner organizations.
  • Impact the team’s ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives.
  • Coach the organization on the fundamentals of continuous improvement and build problem solving capabilities throughout the R&D organization.
  • Provides leadership across the R&D organization to promote and drive strategic thinking and innovative approaches to improve the way we work. This includes coordination of various change/transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, within the global R&D community.
  • Partner with internal and external project team members to ensure program deliverables are met in a timely manner.
  • Create, track, and drive critical path, flagging and managing risks, dependencies and decisions that affect the program.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and clear communication to all project stakeholders including senior management.
  • Train, coach and mentor team members through kaizen events, structured problem solving, shop floor improvements, and FBS training.
  • Up to 30% travel internationally and domestically will be required.

Required qualifications

  • Please note: This CI Role is not for Production or Plant. This role requires CI experience in Process Documentation and Transactional Lean.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institution with a minimum of 5 years in a process improvement or Lean role.
  • Proven to be effective driving outcomes in large, matrixed organizations – able to influence without direct authority.
  • Change agent, able to make the case for improvement and demonstrate immediate impact.
  • The ability to breakdown problems and complex situations into actions that will drive progress.
  • High energy, capable of handling conflict and influencing others.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to effectively project manage, set priorities, and resolve prioritization conflicts.
  • Driven to find ways to make businesses and processes better and more efficient.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Additional Skills Needed

  • Lean practitioner, capable of facilitating kaizen events and coaching core tools such as daily , structured problem solving, and standard work.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking - ability to make sound data driven business decisions; understand, track, drill down and question activities and issues in all functional areas.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, teaching and coaching.
  • Hands-on -oriented, and capable of seeing the big picture.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization while driving numerous process improvement projects.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn​
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively​.
