Vice President Policy and Market Development

Everyone in the clean energy ecosystem needs a fast, easy, safe way to share energy data. UtilityAPI, a software company with a mission to fight climate change, provides the data access platform to do it. Lack of access to data chokes innovation at clean energy companies. Our automated data service helps shorten sales cycles, lower customer acquisition costs, and provides the infrastructure needed to build the energy economy of the future. Our customers love us.

We have a diverse leadership team and we value the insights that a diverse team can bring. We encourage applications from members of groups that have been traditionally underrepresented and underestimated in tech, including women, people of color and people with disabilities.

We are looking for a stellar Vice President of Policy and Market Development who can manage public policy and regulatory efforts at our growing startup. If you’re interested in fighting climate change by advocating for strong and equitable standards driven policies, this is a great opportunity.

What You'll Do
- Develop and execute strategies to position UtilityAPI and our shared agenda with national policymakers, regulators, commissioners and influencers.
- Build, lead, and mentor a team to execute on your strategy.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for media work related to data access policies including public hearings, testimony, and community-based roundtables with policymakers.
- Build a multi-year engagement plan focused on relationships with policymakers, advancing understanding and support of data access policy issues, and creating more platforms for UtilityAPI and our partner organizations to grow our leadership in the fight against climate change
- Serve as a thought leader on data access policy issues and represent UtilityAPI with a wide range of audiences, including policymakers, coalition partners, funders, and the media.
- Provide leadership, direction, and professional development to team members, establishing and monitoring staff performance and development goals; setting objectives, establishing priorities, and conducting performance appraisals.
- Contribute to a culture of high performance and continuous learning

Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated success leading and managing public policy efforts at the federal, state and local levels
- Organizational leadership and management experience – ability to motivate others to advance goals, and effectively manage multiple projects or roles in a rapidly evolving environment
