About Stem

Are you seeking a role with a Climate Tech industry leader that you can be excited and proud of as part of the clean energy transition??

Stem provides solutions that address the challenges of today’s dynamic energy market. By combining advanced energy storage solutions with Athena™, a world-class artificial intelligence (AI)-powered analytics platform, Stem enables customers and partners to optimize energy use by automatically switching between battery power, onsite generation and grid power. Stem’s solutions help enterprise customers benefit from a clean, adaptive energy infrastructure and achieve a wide variety of goals, including expense reduction, resilience, sustainability, environmental and corporate responsibility and innovation. Stem also offers full support for solar partners interested in adding storage to standalone, community or commercial solar projects – both behind and in front of the meter.

Stem’s culture embodies diversity & inclusion beyond the traditional facets of gender, ethnicity, age, disabilities, and sexual orientation to include experience, personality, communication, workstyles, and more. At our core, Stem is at the momentous intersection of clean energy and software technology where diverse ideas, experiences, and professional skills converge to make the inclusive culture we have today. Together, we are turning old school thoughts about software and energy into progressive, collaborative, and innovative solutions. By joining our team, you will be collaborating with data scientists, energy experts, skilled salespeople, thought-leading executives and more from a range of backgrounds. This intersection of ideas, beliefs, and skills is what makes us unique enough to lead the world’s largest network of digitally connected energy storage systems.

What we are looking for:

Influence the future of renewable energy at Stem and AlsoEnergy. Our Athena platform touches a significant part of the renewable energy ecosystem and your role is to help drive both evolutionary and revolutionary improvements to the product. As a Product Manager, you will work closely with our internal and external customers to understand their needs and synthesize product requirements.

In this role you will have the opportunity to make an impact and to own and influence product execution, product strategy and process. In addition to customer interfacing, you will collaborate within the product management and development teams as well as with sales, support, marketing, operations, finance, and our executive team to bring new software products to the renewable energy industry globally.

Responsibilities:
- Define product requirements, from high level critical success factors down to individual user stories.
- Be ready to roll your sleeves up and own the backlog, but also operate at a higher-level driving product vision and strategy.
- Manage the full product life cycle and oversee the process through from discovery to execution to launch.
- Be focused on delivering customer value and outcomes over merely shipping code.
- Create consensus for the product vision both internally and with external stakeholders.
- Drive focus on what matters and guide the team towards prioritized strategic goals.
- Perform user research and understand how the customer experiences Athena.
- Collaborate with the UX team to provide wireframes, mock-ups, or other design materials as necessary to communicate how your products are experienced.
- Construct reference architectures, dataflow diagrams and other flowcharts as needed.
- Develop an understanding of the product, our market, and our customers.
- Continuously collaborate in optimizing product development processes and tools.
- Provide transparency and visualization on tech debt with stakeholders and work with the technical teams to eliminate it.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- 5+ years demonstrated Software Product Management experience.
- 2 years of experience in the field of renewable energy or IoT required.
- Experience working in an agile development environment (SAFe preferred)
- Working experience with Gitlab, Jira or similar.
- Technically proficient with the ability to understand and work across the entire web and infrastructure stack. You can keep up with engineering discussions, and ramp quickly to learn new things.
- Experience establishing baselines, setting and achieving goals, and measuring success.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products with launch deadlines.
- Foresight to make appropriate judgement calls to adjust scope or make resource asks in advance of deadlines.
- Strong research and analysis background, fluency working with quantitative and qualitative data.
- Excellent verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Ability to think creatively with vision and manage ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business
- Demonstrated knowledge of multiple functional areas, including engineering, partner networks, sales, customer operations, finance, and marketing
- History of building relationships and successful collaborations with partners
- History of setting and achieving strategic goals using research and data

Job Location: May be fully remote or work from our SF, Austin or Boulder office. Preference to have someone in the Boulder offices a few days/week.
