Senior People Operations Representative / HR Business Partner

Position Overview

The Senior People Operations Representative / HR Business Partner will be responsible for supporting the development of People Operations and its initiatives and advancing Fervo’s culture and values. This role will impact the full employee experience, with an initial focus on recruiting and onboarding, and supporting payroll, benefits, employee relations, performance management, engagement, and offboarding. A successful candidate will be able to work autonomously with minimal oversight, build relationships and trust, and proactively identify and demonstrate how People Operations brings value to an organization experiencing dynamic growth and change. This role will report to the Director of People Operations.

Responsibilities
- Act as a reliable point of contact for leaders and employees on People Operations inquiries: responding to, following up on, and working to resolve issues and problems
- Develop and manage recruiting; bring solutions to challenging recruiting needs and develop strategic networks to source future candidates
- Consult with managers on recruiting initiatives and offers: assessing talent needs, recommending recruitment, compensation, and relocation strategies in alignment with company philosophy, coaching managers through the hiring process and best practices
- Create structure for onboarding and collaborate with managers to improve the new hire experience, ensure talent is quickly utilized, and increase engagement
- Work closely with the Director of People Operations on strategic initiatives, policies and procedures, and the implementation of systems
- Advise managers on employee performance, development, and compensation changes that creates and sustains high caliber talent while ensuring alignment with company philosophy
- Manage recruiting process within the ATS; maintain HRIS including process reports and employee data changes such as compensation, titles, leaves of absence, and department changes. Regularly audit data to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion programs including EEO data collection, analytics, and reporting
- Support payroll, manage employee leave, respond to unemployment and workers compensation claims
- Administer company benefits including annual open enrollment
- Plan culture and engagement-related initiatives and events
- Anticipated travel: 10 – 20%
- Other related duties as necessary

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field)
- 7+ years of experience in People Operations or Human Resources
- 3+ years of recruiting experience
- Familiarity with federal,state, and local laws and regulations, HR policies and procedures and ongoing commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge
- Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data and make sound recommendations
- Have excellent organizational, project management (planning to execution), written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills including strong presentation skills to varied audiences and stakeholder groups
- Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done, do things before being asked by others or forced to by events
- Friendly and engaging, with professional integrity and a sense of responsibility & accountability
- Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity and discretion
- Proficiency with HR systems, including payroll, running reports, entering data

Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM or HRCI Certifications
- Experience recruiting for any of the following: senior technical roles, field roles in remote locations, executive roles, or recruiting for Oil & Gas or Geothermal industry
- Working knowledge of California-specific labor laws, payroll, and benefits

Location
Fervo Energy’s corporate office is located in downtown Houston. This position is currently a hybrid work model; combining an in-office presence with the flexibility to work outside the office 1-2 days a week, or as otherwise required to align with work responsibilities. We have worked in a hybrid model since before COVID19, and while we do have an in-office presence, we will continue to embrace a hybrid work style and use tools adopted during remote work to communicate with team members across multiple geographies.
