Senior Full Stack Developer (ML) (Remote)

OVERVIEW

Terramera is actively seeking an enthusiastic, curious, and dedicated Senior Full Stack Developer (ML) to join our Software Development Team. This position will play a crucial role in helping Terramera measure and mobilize nature-based solutions for agriculture to turn back the clock on climate change on the global scale. The ideal candidate is action-oriented, where speed and quality aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive and is passionate about delivering exceptional experiences.

YOUR MISSION

To productionize algorithms, develop services and interfaces, and build up Terramera’s core infrastructure to make an immediate impact on our advanced analytics platform.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to the Senior Director, Software Engineering, the Senior Full-Stack Developer (ML) will work closely with other members of our R&D team including Scientists, Software, Machine Learning and Robotics Engineers as part of our interdisciplinary workforce. The position will also collaborate closely with Terramera’s DevOps Teams to support the monitoring and instrumentation of our codebase.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Solve tough technical and business challenges by collaborating with team members and writing great code
- Help define and support the infrastructure on which your code runs
- Develop tools, alerts, instruments, and monitoring for your code in collaboration with the DevOps team to ensure applications run smoothly
- Collaborate with product, design, and other stakeholders to plan, breakdown, and implement features and solutions  
- Take initiative in generating new and innovative approaches to problems
- Provide mentorship and coaching to junior team members, helping to grow the Software Development Team

REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of experience and knowledge
- Excellent programming skills using a modern technology stack (e.g., Python, C++, Golang)
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development practices (e.g., agile) and system design
- Experience solving tough technical and business challenges in multi-disciplinary environments
- Experience with containerization and orchestration frameworks (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience designing and implementing microservice architectures and RESTful APIs
- Experience with basic front end web development
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders and plan out work
- Willingness to mentor and coach junior team members
- Software project portfolio showcasing your work

ASSETS
- Domain knowledge in machine learning, biology, chemistry, soil science, statistics, and/or remote sensing
- Experience deploying data pipelines utilizing MLOps technology stacks
- Experience packaging advanced analytics or scientific software
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and deploying tools and services into live environments
- Experience with cloud-based ecosystems and integrating with DevOps toolchains
- Professional experience that demonstrates depth and quality over quantity. We typically look for candidates with 5+ years of professional development experience in any software stack.
- Enjoys multi-tasking and cross-disciplinary work connecting engineering and science
