Summary of Role

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader to join our Energy Intelligence (Mapdwell) division. You will be leading a team responsible for the technology, architecture, and full software development lifecycle of our Energy Intelligence software suite and APIs, with a focus on user experience, scalability, and availability. As an engineering leader, you need to be proficient in software architecture and comfortable with both front-end and back-end programming languages and technologies, as well as data science, data pipelines, and algorithms.

Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers.
- Support our services end-to-end with a culture of performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Design both client-side and server-side architectures with a focus on the server-side system and API layer.
- Develop, manage and support well-functioning applications and databases.
- Build features and applications that are responsive and accessible.
- Participate in and manage on-call and site reliability rotations.
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, other teams, and stakeholders to prioritize tasks, manage projects and create best-in-class software solutions.

Qualifications
- Experience designing and consuming data-heavy RESTful APIs
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including at least one modern front-end technology (preferably React or Ember)
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Professional experience with Ruby and/or Python
- 2+ years of management experience
- Experience with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Git
- Experience with data visualization (e.g. in D3), geospatial data, maps, or GIS tools

Additional Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with cloud services, DevOps, CI/CD, and containers
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
- A knack for benchmarking and optimization
