River is an electric vehicle startup building multi-utility scooters. The company builds products ground up with a strong focus on design and engineering. Currently, the company is in the product development stage with prototypes being tested on the road. The vehicle will go on sale on Sep-22. River is backed by marquee international investors - Israel based Maniv mobility and US based Trucks VC. These are mobility focussed funds backed by some of the big names in the automotive industry. River is founded by experienced automotive professionals - Vipin George is ex-Lead Designer at Honda, Ultraviolette and Aravind Mani is ex-VP at Ultraviolette, an EV startup backed by TVS Motors. River is a fast growing company with an R&D team of 60 engineers now. The company targets to be 250-300 employees by the end of 2022.
Designation : Senior Engineer - Battery Design
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake battery pack design for structural integrity, effective thermal management and safety
- Generate design concepts and detailed design of parts contributing to mechanical/structural rigidity of battery pack such as casings, cell holders etc
- Generate design concepts and detailed design of parts that attribute to thermal management of cells and BMS
- Design of parts for cell interconnection and parts along the powerpath of the battery pack such as busbars,harnesses etc.
- Design of components that act as protection elements of battery packs such as thermal barriers, pressure relief valves, seals etc.
- Work with CAE team for structural, thermal simulation of battery pack and evaluation of results, and identifying the necessary design correction needed
- Work on tolerance stack analysis of the subassemblies within the battery pack based on manufacturing tolerances
- Assist the electrical team with creating battery packs for evaluating various electrical, mechanical and thermal failure modes
- Work on hardware packaging (design enclosure/casing for PCBs)
