JOB CATEGORY

Recognized by Forbes as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States, Palmetto believes that choosing to source clean energy from renewable resources like solar power should be a right, not a privilege. As such, we connect homeowners with renewable energy options such as solar power and energy storage systems. Through our marketplace business model, we empower solar sales professionals and solar installation companies with access to our proprietary design platform, financing, customer management system, logistics, and project management. Our #1 focus is a phenomenal experience for our customers and partners, evidenced in our industry-leading Net Promoter Score.

Our employees are our most valuable resource. Palmetto is a VC-backed high-growth company with a promote-from-within culture for talent development. We offer excellent benefits such as unlimited vacation/PTO, medical, dental, and vision coverage, parental leave, and retirement plans.

We are a remote-first company and are proud to have great people working for us all over the United States.

Summary of Role

As the Senior Director, Data & Analytics, you will lead Palmetto’s centralized Data & Analytics team, and guide the team to deliver the data and insights that Palmetto’s business teams use to inform, launch, monitor, and optimize new and existing initiatives, processes, and goals. You will enable and evangelize data-driven decision-making for our business. You are comfortable diving into an ever-evolving cloud data warehouse, writing SQL queries that answer stakeholder (and your own) questions, building visualizations to make those findings digestible and productionalized, and communicating those insights out. You are comfortable partnering with Product teams and our Data Engineering team to guide on Product Data Models that can inform downstream BI needs. The successful candidate will possess a passion for innovative analysis, processes that scale, and the wherewithal to develop findings and recommendations that tie the data and numbers back to the real world.

Strategic & Tactical
- Manage a small team, and enable a business partner model with business teams that create an intake and prioritization process, being the central owner of Data & Analytics needs across the business.
- Oversee the team’s development of advanced dashboards and reports for the ongoing analysis and monitoring of our partners, markets, KPIs, OKRs, and other initiatives
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis with rapid delivery to support key tactical decisions
- Collaborate closely with Palmetto’s data community in order to better understand upstream data processes and work together on company-wide initiatives
- Work closely with project managers to understand their analytical needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and delivering actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
- Write clean code, investigate and correct errors, identify, and contribute to the data infrastructure (e.g., snowflake, dbt).

Qualifications
- MBA (or relevant experience) with 8-10 years of experience in data analysis, data science, or data warehousing with proven business analysis experience: you thrive on combining rigorous data-driven analysis, strong business intuition, and judgment, and an ability to work well across a variety of teams to solve complex problems.
- Impact Orientation: You have the ability to translate quantitative data into actionable business insights and recommendations. Ability to communicate complex data concepts and reasoning in ways that product teams, senior management, and the wider organization will understand.
- Data Fluency: Quantitative analysis and logical reasoning; 5+ years of experience using SQL and visualization tools on large data sets to extract trends and insights.
- Efficiency: Excellent organizational and prioritization skills as demonstrated by experience driving multiple, competing projects under deadline pressure.
- Enthusiasm: You’re passionate about Palmetto’s mission and excited to bring clean, renewable solar energy to more people.

Even Better
- Familiarity with Palmetto’s data stack and other core tools: SQL, Jira, Looker, Tableau, GitHub, dbt, Snowflake, Salesforce
- Familiarity with ETLs and data modeling concepts (e.g. star, noSQL)
- Comfortable with many aspects of the data ecosystem (e.g. data modeling, defining metrics, visualization, analysis, communication, and implementation)
- Experience working at a dynamic and rapidly growing company, preferably in technology, energy, or the construction industry
- If you find building, collaborating on, and learning about a new data model exciting, this could be the opportunity for you!

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check.
