What we do:

At Arable, our goal is to connect all the world’s farms to help optimize the global food system. We hope the impact of our work will improve the lives of farmers everywhere and be a major contribution to securing the global food supply for decades to come.

A few examples of the work we’re doing today:

  • Helping farmers in India and Mozambique adapt to the effects of climate
  • change on their farms with novel data-driven crop insurance
  • Giving produce growers in California the tools to optimize production and minimize waste
  • Helping irrigated farms in Nebraska manage water more efficiently and sustainably to protect our water supply

What you will do:

  • Develop and deliver real world solutions in water management, nutrient management, and crop modeling.
  • Utilize data analytics and modeling tools to analyze and interpret large, complex data sets.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and validate crop models and algorithms.
  • Work with field teams to optimize crop management decisions in relation to weather, soil, and crop growth.
  • Create and maintain documentation of models, methods, and research findings.
  • Work with software engineers to develop and maintain data processing pipelines, including automation and quality control procedures.
  • Directly interact with customers to identify novel use cases, garner feedback and demonstrate the value of Arable solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in agronomic research, technologies, and techniques.

Requirements:

  • PhD or Masters in Agronomy or a related field, with a focus on water management, nutrient management, and crop modeling.
  • Experience with Python or R programming, including the use of scientific computing packages such as NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
  • Exceptional candidates will have experience training, evaluating and implementing machine learning models.
  • Strong experience with data analytics, statistics, and modeling.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret research findings.
