Position Scope

As the Project Engineer – Co-op you will support the effective execution of the Management of Change (MoC) programme for the Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre. You are responsible to ensure that the modifications to plant process equipment follow the required steps of design, procurement, safety reviews, installation, and commissioning. You will collaborate with the MoC Supervisor, plant engineers, and tradespeople to administer the MoC process. Implementing improvements to the programme workflow and templates will also be included in the scope of this position.

This is an 8-month position starting January 2023. The position is based in Squamish, BC.

Responsibilities  
Technical
- Collect information and produce reports for upper management as needed (weekly, one-offs).
- Attend design review meetings as the Management of Change delegate to ensure all required steps (e.g. safety reviews) are complete and the project is approved for implementation.
- Identify inefficiencies and areas that could be improved in the process and work with your supervisor to determine potential solutions.
- Record meeting minutes.
- Manage and edit the MS Excel Management of Change tracking register.
- Support the ongoing development and improvement of the MoC process.
- Support the transition of the Management of Change system from Windows Explorer to SharePoint.

Safety
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Demonstrate a positive approach to safety.
- Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
- Complete training curriculum on Bridge system.

Education and Experience
Education:
- Currently enrolled in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering at a Canadian post-secondary institution.

Experience:
- Motivated curiosity and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and noisy work environment.
- Safe handling of chemical products is required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset).
