We are looking for a highly motivated Process Engineer to join our dynamic start-up team as we build fully automated, smart insect factories to help sustainably feed the world.

The Role

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing team. If you have a strong background in process engineering (BEng in process or chemical engineering or similar. min 2:1 and proven industry experience), an analytical approach to problem solving and an interest in clean-tech, please get in touch. Your skill, insight and ingenuity will directly shape Entocycle’s creation of the most efficient Black Soldier Fly factory in the world.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To define bespoke solutions using key engineering principles and calculations to solve challenging problems referencing the company's internal scientific data and prior art.
- Leading process engineering activities for Front End Engineering Design, through to detailed design and commissioning.
- Creation, analysis and optimisation of process calculations, process flow diagrams, P&ID’s, process descriptions, equipment datasheets and specifications.
- Development of mass and energy balance based on raw data supplied.
- Initial development of the process, including PFD, Scope of Works and Basis of Design documentation.
- Development of P&ID from initial scoping to “FOR CONSTRUCTION” in line with the company's drafting standards.
- Development of plant FDS in collaboration with the automation engineer.
- Equipment sizing and specifying including: centrifugal and PD pumps, heat exchangers, control valves, process and utility line sizing and CIP system/regime as well as others.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining equipment schedules.
- Liaising with suppliers, selecting appropriate equipment, evaluating and deciding between supplier offers and leading procurement negotiations.
- Perform safety related calculations and provide input to safety reviews – Hazop, SIL, etc.
- Commissioning of equipment on site, instructing team members and supplier installation teams.
- Identify key process performance metrics and develop operational data sheets for process performance tracking and optimisation
- Providing mentoring and guidance to more junior engineers within the team to develop the technology skills of the team
- Undertaking long and short term travel for site installation and commissioning activities, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Skills & Experience
- 5+ years relevant experience preferably within food/beverage sector
- Knowledge of food/feed factory processes and regulations
- Proven track record of working in process industries in similar roles
- Experience of delivering projects from concept to handover.
- Experience in AutoCAD essential.
- Experience with steam boilers, chillers, refrigeration or compressed air
- Site installation and commissioning experience
