What we are looking for:
We are seeking a successful and proven technical leader to join Stem+AlsoEnergy’s as a Manager, Solar Performance Engineering and be the lead solar analytics expert on a team with the goal of ensuring that our customers can fully understand their solar site and portfolio performance and generate actionable insights. The solar performance team will collaborate with a companion storage performance team to extend advanced analytics into the differentiating solar+storage space, with other generation types to follow.

The role will be a combination of providing clients with professional services to help them understand their site performance and then leveraging that experience to build better software products that automate advanced site analysis on our Athena platform. The position will be an in-house solar performance subject matter expert and consult with sales, customer onboarding, customer success and product teams to ensure improved outcomes and repeatable processes, and to extend our strong product platform foundation.

This is a new department in the company. The person who fills this role will be a creative leader and expected to work with the VP, Performance Engineering on company strategy development, cross functional initiatives and team building, while demonstrating company values and contributing to a company culture of excellence.

Responsibilities:
- Drive development of automated and differentiated solar analytics to determine site performance and health
- Perform professional services, working with clients on a regular cadence to review findings from work
- Leverage professional services projects as basis for working with Product teams to incorporate new functional capability and findings into automated software products
- As our top internal solar subject matter expert, inform organization on best practices in modeling, site topology, expected data sets, alarm rules, KPIs and other items
- Assist in pre-sales and customer success related efforts as needed
- Work with site onboarding teams to ensure a quality and consistent data foundation and processes, leading to a quality foundation for our analytics team and our customers’ independent engineers
- Stay current on emerging technologies and trends relevant to clean energy performance engineering
- Recruit, retain, and develop a high performing team
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Master’s or PhD degree in engineering
- Minimum of five (5) years solar modeling and analytics experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities
- Expert knowledge in solar systems and willingness to learn adjacent clean energy domains, especially energy storage
- Expertise in common data science tools and understanding of relevant packages available (Python, SQL, Jupyter, MATLAB, R, SPSS etc)
- Working knowledge of clean energy industry specific related tools and standards (PVSyst, pvlib, SAM, IEC61724, IEC63019, IEC61400, NERC GADS, etc)
- Experienced with Git and other collaboration software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate with various stakeholders including external clients, product development, and executives
- Able to relate to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Management Skills: Emotional Intelligence, Dealing with work-related stress, Motivation, Task delegation, People management, Strategic Management, Planning, Problem-solving, Process development, Innovation
- Proficient in standard office tools: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Slack

Job Location: Remote, will require occasional travel to the Boulder, CO., offices.
