What we are looking for:

The leader in this role will provide comprehensive commercial management of fund-owned operating and development assets, and will report to the VP, Finance. The primary objectives of this role are to lead investor relationships, financial optimization, contract management, compliance, budgeting, and cost controls. You will be responsible for actively supporting the company’s ongoing business relationships with project financiers and fund owners. You will collaborate with all internal functional areas, working closely with Programs, Data, and Network Operations teams, to ensure Stem delivers exceptional results to fund owners. This is an opportunity to manage one of the largest operating fleets of distributed energy storage assets in the world.

You are an experienced energy or infrastructure asset manager. You are a self-starter that is a creative problem solver and strategic thinker, you have a proven track record in delivering exceptional results, and you understand project finance and accounting structures and concepts. You can drive internal and external cross-functional teams to successful outcomes and are comfortable working autonomously to solve complex problems.

This position requires a driven and talented professional with strong interpersonal capabilities, a collaborative work ethic, the ability to learn technical concepts, solid problem-solving skills, and a positive & professional demeanor.

Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain long-lasting relationships with our project financiers and fund owners by serving as a trusted advisor with key operational stakeholders at all relevant levels of their organization, from data analyst to C-suite
- Lead the identification and implementation of strategies for financial optimization of each fund
- Support Programs by proactively monitoring portfolio system performance to meet contractual obligations with project financiers
- Evaluate new market mechanisms and solicitations for additional revenue opportunities and lead the effort to secure new revenue streams or cost reductions
- Understand utility programs & other value streams critical to the success of the portfolios
- Conduct data and financial analyses to evaluate system and fund level performance impacts and sensitivities; this may include post-sales analyses, operational optimization strategies, or end-of-life decisions
- Be the subject matter expert in all fund contracts and develop and scale a framework for contract compliance and risk management
- Build and improve Stem reporting capabilities by automating report outputs for key financial metrics
- Identify process or product obstacles to portfolio performance and individual sites/customers; recommend solutions and support their implementation.
- Manage budgets and produce forecasts for asset P&Ls
- Work with Accounting and FP&A to ensure the accuracy of asset financials, customer savings reports, assist in responding to audit requests, and produce monthly variance analyses
- Integrate new assets to the portfolio, including trancheing, documentation, and reporting on new asset financings
- Develop the technical expertise to internally advocate for performance improvements and new solutions
- Work with Customer Operations team to serve as voice for project financiers’ and their customers
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all inquiries from project financiers, by email and phone

Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in an infrastructure operations or asset management role
- Intellectual agility and curiosity, superb analytical skills; creative problem-solving is a strength
- Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy, humility, understanding
- Excellent organizational and self-management capabilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
- Entrepreneurial spirit: able to manage multiple projects and deadlines and drive to the best possible outcomes
- Knowledgeable and dependable presence with experience working with senior management and executive stakeholders
