Station A is the first AI-powered clean energy marketplace that aims to make clean energy cheaper, more accessible, and more transparent to everyone. Our mission is to transition the world to 100% clean energy.

We are a seed-stage company and passionate team based in the San Francisco Bay Area (remote friendly). Multiple projects have now run through our marketplace, we have over 2,000 providers in our network, and we have a growing pipeline of more than $600M in clean energy projects under evaluation by buyers. We're now looking to scale our impact and enable anyone to easily power a building with 100% clean energy.

Your contribution

As Lead Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of Station A's core technology product and underlying data platform. You'll also support your teammates by writing great documentation and employing industry best practices to maintaining quality software. Lastly, you'll work with your teammates to plan and execute on key technology decisions across the stack in order to achieve project goals in collaborative, cross-functional teams. Your expected start date will be January 2023.

Examples of what you'll work on
- Creating engaging web interfaces for interacting with rich, data-centric content using modern web development tools such as Vue.js
- Building scalable REST APIs and RPC services to enable low-latency access to millions of geospatial data records for both internal and external clients using Python and Go
- Developing, testing, and deploying ML/AI models to scale time-consuming vision and classification tasks using toolkits such as Tensorflow and Keras
- Maintaining a modern, highly-available cloud infrastructure built on Kubernetes
- Contributing to open source software and data projects such as tilenol and ssc
- Leading discussion with product and business stakeholders to incorporate market feedback and align with commercial success
- Participating in engineering group conversations and events such as our our internal culture and process discussions, tech conferences, and internal system demos and walkthroughs
- Working with the Head of Engineering to implement key technology objectives such as: operational efficiencies to support our growing product development teams, continued investments into open source software and data initiatives, building out a “community-driven” product development operation

About you

You see software and product development as a collaborative, iterative process that involves balancing the short needs of an evolving business and market landscape with the long-term benefits of investments into scalability and maintainability of software systems. You write tests just as well as you write new features and consider it anything but a chore to cultivate great documentation. You also demonstrate "what good looks like" for other teammates and understand the importance of learning and mentorship in a growing team.

Ideally you haveyou have two or more years experience as a senior software engineer ideally at an early-stage, product-driven startup. Pay and benefits

We believe in the importance of pay transparency. The base salary for a Lead Software Engineer is $140-170k plus stock options and an annual target bonus.
