Lead Climate Data Scientist

Sust Global is transforming complex climate science into credible climate data. Using deep learning techniques to transform climate models, satellite, and geospatial data, we've created a one-stop-shop for physical climate risk & emissions insights, via a cloud-native analytics product. We are reinventing how the world assesses and adapts to the changing climate. WHO WE NEED 📖
What you’ll bring to the team:
- Experience with climate modeling and working with large spatial datasets on fundamental climate variables
- Experience working on analysis, validation and exploration with geospatial data in different formats: netCDF and geojson
- Experience working on statistical inference, computer vision and data analytics on geospatial and multispectral earth observation datasets
- Understand the data lifecycle and concepts such as lineage, governance, privacy, retention, anonymity, etc.
- Experience with python and linux command line
- Prior experience with cloud based data analysis tools and workflows
- 5-8 years of experience working on data heavy cloud-native software products
- Graduate degree in atmospheric science, meteorology, climate/earth systems science, hydrology, civil/environmental engineering, astrophysics or similar fields; PhD/postdoc with professional work experience highly preferred
- Experience with recruiting, hiring and managing technical staff

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING ✍️
The impact you’ll have:
- Leverage your experience managing complex R&D projects to develop and deliver new product capabilities
- Actively participate and lead an interdisciplinary team of scientists to develop new intellectual property
- You will disseminate climate-related insights via internally and externally facing visualizations, published articles, and white-papers
- You will have a wide impact on our current and upcoming base of customers to help distill complex climate data and frontier climate science into actionable signals
- Lead cross-team research projects, collaboratively developing and executing project plans in partnership with multiple stakeholders
- An opportunity to build, develop, and mentor a growing team of climate data scientists
