Head of Technology | Carbon Offsetting | Remote

The Carbon Offsetting domain is still in it’s infancy. What most will generally see is a bunch of organizations who will plant some trees for you with the promise that you’re then covered to drive a gas guzzling truck to work or fly your private jet to Starbucks (looking at you Taylor/Kendall/Drake 👀)

Thankfully however, there are organizations who are determined to change the paradigm in emission offsetting. These including a company I am proud to be partnered with who, through their sleek easy to use platform and API, connect businesses and consumers with the carbon credit/offsetting infrastructure essentially empowering them to offset their emissions in a myriad of ways. These include investment in Biochar facilities in Southern Australia to, get this, investing in making ship hulls slipperier. Yes you read that right. Slippery hulls can reduce a ships drag so significantly it reduces their emissions per years by tens of thousands of tonnes 🤯

As you’ll expect this organization is making waves, after a highly successful seed round they are about a month out from series A.

And right now – they are looking for a talented mission-driven Head of Technology to join their team and, in simple terms, lead the continued build, and evolution of the platform.

There ideal candidate will ideally have experience in scaling a high-growth engineering organization, having been responsible for hiring and motivating a diverse and inclusive team of Engineers (teams of 15+) and taken a SAAS product from early investment to hypergrowth. That’s the ticket here. They are looking for the sort of leader who really has their teams back, helps them grow professionally whilst inspiring them to deliver their best work.

Naturally you’ll also be responsible for setting roadmaps and strategy to work toward business objectives and mapping out processes that are conducive to a robust, secure product. Not hands on, unless you’re that way inclined, but an engineering background is required.

Stack is broadly speaking – Python, JavaScript, React.js, AWS (and a bunch of associated modern tooling)
