At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy. The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.

We are now looking for a Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer to join our Flight Test team in Gothenburg. Do you have experience in FTI engineering and want to contribute to a more sustainable future?

Your mission
As a Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI) Engineer, you will be assisting in building up the flight test support infrastructure at Heart Aerospace. You will work in an exciting team-based environment supporting test flights, lab builds, and system integration/sustainment during aircraft modifications.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Define FTI requirements, system design, bench test, equipment integration and commissioning
- Develop processes and procedures for FTI configuration control and calibration
- Develop and maintain tools for data management, display and analysis
- Technical leadership for FTI technicians as the team grows
- Advising selection of test equipment that meets measurement and environmental requirements
- Working closely with system engineering teams to generate FTI designs for the implementation of FTI and data acquisition system installations
- Coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and airworthiness
- Provide aircraft test operational support by directing on-board calibrations, data system operation, and troubleshooting
- Identify component operational characteristics that may impact system performance and or sustainability
- Support deployed flight test operations

This role will involve international travels on occasions in order to support flight test campaigns.
You will belong to the Flight Test team which currently consists of 5 people, and report to the Flight Test Instrumentation Manager. Your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Skills & Requirements

Education/Experience
- Engineering degree or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in FTI engineering within an aerospace OEM company environment
- Experience with aircraft certification programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent
- Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment is a merit
- Direct experience with early-stage formation of a complete FTI solution is a merit

Specific Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of sensors, data acquisition, recording and telemetry systems
- Knowledge of aircraft systems and test equipment utilized in flight and ground test activities
- Knowledge of airborne systems engineering for safety critical systems (SAE ARP 4754/4761)
- Knowledge of airborne telemetry systems, DGPS, trailing static cones and other specialist flight test equipment
- Knowledge of sensor selection and installation (strain gauges, pressure transducers, load cells, displacement transducers, thermocouples, etc.)
- Working knowledge/exposure to data processing and various software tools
- Familiarity with the following bus formats: ARINC-429, RS-232/422/485 and Ethernet base data buses (HSDB)
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English
- Eagerness to work with others
- Passion for aircraft and to electrify the aviation industry
