JOB CATEGORY

Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

Role Description:

The product operations team is looking for a trusted single point of contact for all activities related to device level cost tracking, analysis, and reporting.

In this internship, you will roll up all product costs - BOM, SG&A, profit, etc… - for management. As the design changes you will work with the engineering and sourcing team to refresh the latest cost picture.

In this role, you will manage deep analytics and deliver easily digestible and actionable insights to leadership and cross-functional teams. You'll utilize analytical expertise and operational knowledge to identify opportunities and risks and optimize costs. You'll also clearly communicate cost status, trajectory, and goals to all internal stakeholders. In addition, you will keep teams engaged and focused on the same direction on cost.

Responsibilities:
- Roll up component costs from the BOM & work with engineering and sourcing to update the BOM as design changes come in
- Model device SG&A and profit as it relates to final product cost
- Serve as a single source of truth (SSoT) for cost of an assigned product
- Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership by creating visual displays of quantitative cost information. Build and prototype dashboards iteratively to provide insights at scale.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in engineering & pursuing a Master’s in Supply Chain or MBA
- 2 years of experience in operations or manufacturing
- Experience in program management and working with cross-functional teams to manage goals and decision-making.
- Experience with slide presentations and presenting to executives.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience with procurement and supply chain.
- Experience in consumer product hardware development.
- Experience building cost models, analyzing cost trends, and assessing opportunities and risk for early-stage product development.

The estimated base hourly range for this position is $30 to $40, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
