EHS Specialist

Description:

Lilac is seeking an EHS Specialist to support all environmental, health, and safety functions across multiple divisions.

Responsibilities will include:
- Providing advice and, whenever necessary, hands-on support and facilitation in such activities as job hazard analysis, toolbox talks, risk assessment, and incident investigation and analysis
- Facilitating new hire safety orientation
- Participating in and contributing to monthly safety committee meetings
- Regularly auditing existing Lilac safety programs/systems and providing recommendations for new ones
- Coordinating the day-to-day implementation of safety policies and procedures and routinely inspecting worksites and providing recommendations for EHS improvements
- Cultivating positive relationships with Lilac employees and inspiring active and proactive participation and contribution to safety operations and culture improvements
- Ensuring contractor compliance to Lilac safety policies, programs, and procedures
- Ensuring company compliance to local, state, and federal regulations
- Assisting with hazardous waste management

Requirements:
- 1 or more years experience working in a R&D or chemical manufacturing environment
- B.S. in occupational health, industrial hygiene, chemistry, biology, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related discipline
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willing to travel to sites western US and South America
- Experience identifying EHS hazards and risks and corrective actions and solutions for them
- Able to lift 50 lb
- Excited to work on a fast paced startup team
- Will report to the EHS Manager
