What we are looking for:

As the Director of Product Marketing for Stem’s Athena® Clean Energy Intelligence Platform, you will lead the market development lifecycle across the product portfolio. In this role, you will help lead the commercial and product team’s efforts to ensure maximum market share in targeted clean energy markets including merchant market participation by packaging and promoting market-leading software to round out Stem’s differentiated offerings.

You will be a key part of the team developing the product strategy to:
- Create the commercial marketecture for the product portfolio
- Communicate short/medium/long-term product strategy
- Establish the product pricing strategy in alignment with offerings
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to turn technical and operational product features into product positioning with competitive differentiation, market launches for new capabilities, and liaison with Product Management.

Collaboration is key with internal product and operations teams, data scientists, and sellers and external resources like technology partners, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, asset owners, industry researchers and other experts, sharing your in-depth background and knowledge of artificial intelligence based-software solutions, advanced analytics and best-in-class user experience to ensure Stem’s value propositions elevate the position of our offerings in clean energy, battery energy storage solutions, asset performance management, electricity markets, and power systems.

As a leader, you will seamlessly work with multiple business functions within Stem, including Product Management, Development, Operations, Sales, Finance, Legal and Policy, Engineering, Business Development, Policy, and Product Marketing. You are a doer as well as a thinker, who goes beyond the conventional to promote ideas beyond the norm with the goal of leveling up our how we position our software capabilities to; effectively communicating our market value, ease commercialization, compete effectively, and increase our market share.

Responsibilities:
- Become an expert in Stem’s Athena Platform. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of the product architecture, data science, AI mechanisms, advanced analytics, APIs, protocols, and integrations
- Become an expert on how the Athena platform supports Stem’s customers / partners and markets to assess product-market fit and collaborate on new opportunities for our product strategy and priorities and to demonstrate and communicate relevant technical aspects of the platform.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence including market size and competitive landscape including product comparisons, pricing strategies, performance benchmarks and technical capabilities.
- Define commercial differentiation leading with Stem’s Athena platform and identify opportunities to create more demand and increase market share.
- Create, maintain, and continuously update Market Strategy documentation including market requirement documents.
- Work with Product Management and internal stakeholders to drive Product Strategy and product priorities in alignment with market growth and revenue opportunities, company goals and direction, and competitive differentiation.
- Translate Stem’s clean energy software technologies into compelling value propositions and commercially attractive offerings.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to develop collateral, content, and sales enablement that articulates the value of Stem’s product offerings to partners and customers.
- Define the market size and develop go-to-market strategies that maximize Stem’s attainable market share.
- Conduct quantitative analysis necessary to inform strategic market and product decisions.
- Package Stem’s products and services associated with the Athena Platform into comprehensive offerings with standardized solution bundles, pricing, revenue & savings models, contract language, and customer proposal collateral.
- Support the new product introduction process to “full release” participating in a cross-functional process with Business Development, Product Management, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Sales.
- Partner with sales and product management to demonstrate Stem’s solutions.
- Be an advocate and evangelist by attending conferences, webinars and leveraging your personal brand in social media to promote Stem’s value proposition to customers, partners, and the public.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science, marketing, business, engineering, economics, math, or similar subject (or equivalent practical experience)
- 5+ years of experience in Software/SaaS Product Marketing/Management covering solutions with UI/UX, AI, machine-learning, advanced analytics, big data, cybersecurity or IoT a plus
- 2+ years of experience in the energy industry, renewable energy, or energy trading experience is a plus
- Mastery of product marketing, Agile and DevOps principles, software pricing models and approaches, competitive evaluations, product lifecycle management, market requirements, voice of the customer, user requirements & testing, and product advocacy.
- Ability to lead and develop a team of product marketers and cross-functional working groups
- Have a track record of delivering on business outcomes and championing innovation
- Have a track record of work autonomously with excellent time management skills, focusing on key outcomes amidst competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Ability to think across disciplines and functional expertise
- Ability to embrace ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, international experience a plus
