OVERVIEW

Terramera is seeking a Director of Sales to lead our Soil Health Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Business Development activity. This is a newly created role, as we have launched our MVP and are moving forward with commercialization.

Our best fit candidate will be a bold, innovative, and experienced business leader in the agriculture space, someone who has set and successfully accelerated business strategies from seed to commercialization and scale. You are outcome focused, putting the customer and their needs at the heart of the business. You have built or scaled sales teams while keeping them nimble and led teams that provided outstanding support to clients. Ideally you also have background and familiarity with agtech and software used in farming.

In this role, you will help us bring new methods of soil testing/soil health analysis to scale through the development and deployment of our technology products and services for farmers, agronomists, and other key stakeholders in the food value chain.

YOUR MISSION

To lead all sales, marketing, and commercial partnership activities, including setting individual sales targets, tracking sales goals, and managing product sales professionals. To build a sales strategy for products and recruit and lead a team to deliver on revenue objectives and act as “the voice of the market” in informing product and future R&D directions.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to the President, the Director of Sales will lead the sales and marketing activities and work closely with the Product Development teams to ensure commercial success of all soil health offerings.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop commercial plans for all products and offerings
- Build and lead a sales and marketing team
- Devise and implement innovative go-to-market strategies to support corporate growth objectives
- Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas, projected expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products
- Deliver on annual revenue and gross-margin targets by implementing strategies with marketing, as well as analyzing trends and results
- Develop and implement a national sales program in the United States and Canada
- Forecast sales volume, product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators and competitors
- Travel with sales teams to support development at major sales meetings, client and partner presentations, and trade events. Establish sales budgets and manage sales spend for execution within budgeted parameters
- Set weekly, monthly, annual KPIs, including demos, visits, calls to a target list of objectives
- Direct marketing and branding on all platforms (web, social media, etc.)
- Ensure accurate reporting on lead generation and sales efforts, including pulling data and metrics to provide detailed information about pipeline status
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status

REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, or related discipline
- 10+ years of comparable agriculture technology sales experience including building sales teams and structure, processes and business plans from the ground up
- Prior direct experience with new product introduction
- In-depth knowledge of agriculture industry, sales channels, partners and the market
- Hands-on experience leading a consultative sales process
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, planning and implementing sales strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong business acumen
