You will work under the general direction of the Corporate Controller, and manage the Corporate GL and Payroll team. The Director of Accounting is a proven professional who is responsible for the core operational aspects of accounting. This includes developing talent, balancing capabilities and working effectively cross-functionally in a rapidly changing and growing environment. We are looking for a leader who will implement financial processes and systems automation to scalably support Planet’s global growth. The Director of Accounting will be responsible for month-end, quarterly and annual close processes, procure to pay, payroll and SOX compliance.
Impact You’ll Own:
- Oversee all accounting functions for the Americas including: general ledger accounting, consolidations and payroll.
- Champion process improvement efforts to drive efficiency and effectiveness over corporate accounting and general ledger activities driving an efficient and accurate monthly close process and quarterly financial reporting – including identifying opportunities to accelerate close calendars, improve automation and streamline processes.
- Assist the technical accounting and reporting team by providing necessary schedules for the quarterly and annual SEC filings.
- Lead, develop and improve the global close processes (monthly/ quarterly/ annually) and systems for a fast-paced, rapidly growing data-as-a-service and analytics company.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, leading practices and procedures to ensure US GAAP compliance and ensure controllership policies are aligned globally.
- Participate in accounting integration & valuation for mergers & acquisitions.
- Work with the Internal Audit team to improve internal controls to ensure SOX compliance with all processes within the controllership organization.
- Work closely with the financial planning & analysis team on reporting efforts and monthly accruals related to budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure integrity of the Company's accounting systems, including chart of account set-ups, financial report development and maintenance and interfaces between systems and general ledger.
- Lead system projects as necessary and be the main point of contact for CorpEng team with respect to system related projects.
- Review and approve various journal entries and relating reconciliations
- Driving a performance culture with the team in account analyses, reconciliations and process and automation improvements.

What You Bring:
- 8+ years with a mix of Big 4 and industry experience as a public company Director of Accounting or Assistant Controller of large public corporation.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting; MBA a plus ; CPA required (inactive ok)
- Comprehensive understanding of financial accounting and reporting under US GAAP and SEC requirements.
- Merger & acquisition and integration accounting experience.
- Previous experience in a public company SOX environment.
- Proven success in developing and leading a team of people using a collaborative management style in a public company environment.
- Knowledge of accounting and related systems: NetSuite, Coupa, Workiva, etc.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and customer orientation.
- Detail oriented with ability to see the big picture, excellent communication skills (written, verbal) and partnership skills.

Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $123,600 - $203,300. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.
