Data Calibration Manager

Remote possible. Boston, MA; Denver/Boulder, CO; Louisville, KY areas preferred.

We are a rapidly growing technology company, enabling electric utilities around the world to lead the energy transition with enhanced transmission grid flexibility, increased resiliency, and more grid capacity for renewable energy. We provide utilities with our patented, non-contact sensors for the real-time monitoring and predictive analytics they need to accelerate the path to a net zero grid.

We seek a Manager of Data Calibration  to lead our high performing Data Calibration team to consistently on-board and calibrate new sensor installs. This position is a new opening due to increased install volume & calibration intricacy, reporting to the Director of Data Operations & Analytics.

The successful Manager of Data Calibration  will be self starting, detail oriented and a people leader. You will work cross-disciplinary to understand customer priorities, wrangle calibration data inputs and execute on enabling and calibrating new sensor installs. You will work closely with the team to identify process improvement opportunities, and drive execution of those with the goal of streamlining and improving customer deliverables. Process improvement initiatives will have multifaceted solutions, requiring you to think creatively and work collaboratively with R&D, Data Science, Operations, Product, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering and/or strategic partners to arrive at the most effective solution.

What will you do?

Core Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives
- Manage and build a high performing team including full-time, co-op/interns and off-shore resources to drive accurate and efficient site calibrations
- Develop & coordinate a program to enable and calibrate new sensor installs
- Identify, build and operate processes to ensure on-going data integrity
- Within Three Months:
- Learn the end-to-end sensor calibration process, and facilitate creation / updating of process documentation
- Create strong working relationships with Data Calibration team members, and key stakeholders of the Operations, Customer Success and Software Engineering teams
- Own team management responsibilities
- Within Six Months:
- Take full ownership of new site on-boarding coordination & execution, ensuring we’re meeting calibration timelines and delivering quality data to our customers
- Create a roadmap for process improvement priorities in close collaboration with the Technical Program Management team
- Create clear definitions around data quality for each step of our calibration system, and start to implement controls for data quality during new site calibrations and on an ongoing basis
- Within a Year and Beyond:
- Drive key process improvements for the sensor calibration process, resulting in improvements to efficiency and quality
- Engage existing scientific/engineering teammates in tool improvements
- Operationalize onboarding and calibration efforts at scale, build out an operational team as appropriate
- Coordinate closely with the Sales and Program Management teams to ensure adequate resourcing for on-going calibration work & process improvements

What do you need to succeed in this role?
- A shared passion to accelerate the clean energy transition
- BS in an analytical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Economics, Environmental Sci)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in an operations or analytics organization, ideally around new customer on-boarding and/or data quality
- Proven team lead experience, management experience preferred
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and manage priorities in a fast paced environment
- Exceptional organization, communication and analytical skills
- Self starter, a proven track record of driving new initiatives
- Desired Technical Skills: Time-series Data, Python, MS/Google Office, Geospatial
