Creative Lead, SPAN Creative Shop

SPAN Drive—our newest accessory—is the fastest universal EV charger currently available and a monumental achievement in the residential tech space.

We’re seeking a motivated and talented Home Advisor to qualify and manage customer leads. As an important member of our fast-growing sales team, you will play a key role in accelerating revenue generation and architecting scale for an exciting, category-defining brand.

The Role

SPAN is looking for a Creative Lead to head our internal creative strategy and production studio, SPAN Creative Shop. 

The Creative Lead will build the creative ideation and production function at SPAN in three ways:
- Creative strategy, concepting, and production: Develop creative from concept to execution on key initiatives such as brand identity (visual and voice), marketing campaigns, website & eCommerce, sales enablement, customer testimonials, product launch events, and social content. This person will not be primarily responsible for UX/UI, but they will own the creative direction (in collaboration with SPAN’s Director, Product Design) for the website UI and UX interactions and will lead the content development for the website.
- Creative team people manager: You’ll directly manage a small team of designers, writers, producers, in-house photography and videography; and you’ll work collaboratively with cross-functional partners such as Software Product & Design, Sales and Operations, and more. 
- Manage external creative agency and freelance talent: You’ll manage SPAN’s creative agency relationship and develop a freelance network of talent for specialized skills we need to source externally.

This leader will be responsible for cultivating a vision for how the SPAN brand manifests across experiences and integrated channels. The Creative Lead is both a manager and a maker, this role requires an expertise in either copywriting or design, but with a competency and point of view of the other modality. Additionally, the Creative Lead must be able to provide direct feedback when working with motion and narrative content, technology, media, and strategy. 

You will be responsible for all creative production coming from the SPAN brand. Your personal design ethos and imprint will be visible throughout all SPAN’s creative executions. The SPAN Creative Lead must be a master storyteller who can harness our brand, including the product and user experience narrative, and launch creative in-market that advances the SPAN brand to be one of the most distinguishable, unique brands in ClimateTech. The SPAN brand already has immense equity that you will continue to grow and add more dimensions to.

SPAN’s Creative Shop lives within SPAN’s marketing team. This role is a key part of our Marketing team and will report directly to the Head of Marketing. The Creative Lead will work closely with key team members such as the Marketing Manager, Digital Experience Marketing Lead, Event Marketing and PR Manager, and others to create experiences that both wow and are performant. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Concept, design, and execute innovative campaigns and experiences ‑ from developing the creative brief to producing the campaign.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and agencies to create high engagement content including video, animation, and other formats that showcases the SPAN brand with the customer benefits at the forefront
  • Leverage UI and UX best practices to optimize website and eCommerce storefront, web pages, email, and other interactive channels
  • Build and present strategies to C-level leadership that evolve the SPAN brand including visual identity (including visual design systems) and voice, brand house, messaging pillars and refined val props
  • You will work with senior leadership to create processes and establish best practices for Creative Shop operations and creative delivery
  • You’ll provide mentorship to a variety of creative disciplines, developing their skills and helping guide their careers forward.

About You 

Required Qualifications
We are seeking a Digital Experience Marketing Lead who has:
- Passion for making an impact in CleanTech and seeing your work have a positive impact on accelerating sustainable energy
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 6-10 years experience in creative roles, either agency or advertiser building consumer brands globally
- Strong portfolio which demonstrates account/campaign planning, creative direction, visual design skills, and interactive/digital advertising experiences; demonstrating modern design with a creative edge in new media.
- Storyteller, possessing excellent creative, presentation and problem-solving skills, as well as an eye for small details and a passion for big ideas
- Superior strategic and operational planning, and project management skills; including an ability to juggle many things at once in a fast paced environment
- Experience leading with creative vision, purpose and innovation
- Must have a strong understanding of systems design and branding strategy.
- Great interpersonal and relationship-building skills that allow you to successfully work cross-functionally and with a complex set of stakeholders
- Proficient in Adobe CC (Photoshop, Animator, Illustrator, Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere), Figma, Keynote 
- Google Suite expert, specifically Google Slides

Bonus Qualifications
We would love to hire someone who has:
- Lives in the San Francisco Bay area (hybrid work environment); only exceptional remote candidates who are willing to travel up to 30% will be considered
- Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in brand architecture, craft and design thinking, and a proven track record of leading integrated efforts
- Experience as a Creative Director (art or copy) at either agency or advertiser
- People management experience preferred but not necessary
