Purpose Driven Position
The Concrete Laboratory Technician will join the CarbonCure research and engineering teams, as they tackle a comprehensive research roadmap, including new technology development and developing improvements to existing technologies. Applied innovation is a core value of CarbonCure and the selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with a talented team that features university professors, individuals with decades of experience in the cement/ concrete industry, and thought leaders in global sustainability and carbon dioxide utilization.

What you'll be doing
- Carry out experiments with concrete mixes
- Characterization and preparation of sand, aggregates, additives and other materials for concrete batching
- Batching of various mortar and concrete mixes according to defined research plans
- Production of mortar and concrete samples
- Testing fresh and hardened concrete following standard procedures
- Identify and record test results as required using computers
- Communicate test results to team members
- Maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of laboratory equipment
- Oversee material inventory for functioning concrete lab

What you'll need to succeed
- Familiarity with CSA and ASTM specifications related to laboratory testing
- Knowledge of concrete, cement, admixtures, and CO2
- Commitment to providing excellent technical support
- Capability to work independently or in a team
- Ability to plan and prioritize daily workload to achieve pre-determined goals
- Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Desire to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
- Self-motivation and adaptability to new challenges and issues
- Critical thinking, logical planning, and the ability to draw conclusions from visual observations and data
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience using an online database (i.e. Google Drive)
- Strong English communication skills (i.e. verbal and written)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety protocols, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Capability to lift the weight that would be normally encountered in a concrete lab

Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Environmental Engineering Technology
- ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician - Level 1 Certification is considered an asset
