Chemical Engineer

We are looking for a Chemical Engineer with a strong background in the design and scale-up of chemical and electrochemical processes. The Chemical Engineer will design novel chemical processes, perform experiments to study those processes, and use the results to design and commission pilot-scale equipment.

Primary Responsibilities
- Design chemical reaction and separations processes, critically evaluating process alternatives and developing mass and energy balances.
- Use bench-scale results and engineering design fundamentals to select and size equipment for pilot- and demonstration-scale operations
- Independently design experiments, collect experimental data and analyze results to make decisions and inform design work.
- Commission and troubleshoot new equipment to achieve engineering targets.
- Interface with a research team to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure safe operation of all equipment and help develop safe testing procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
- BS or higher in Chemical Engineering, Mining/Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in a process design/engineering role
- Experience with equipment sizing, selection and commissioning, including working with vendors to specify P&IDs and order custom equipment
- Experience with process design, including mass and energy balances, chemical reactors, separations equipment, and thermodynamic and fluid flow calculations
- Experience analyzing experimental data, reaching conclusions, and communicating results
- Strong familiarity with fluid power systems (pumps, valves, heat exchange equipment, etc.)
- Ability to specify and build custom chemical-processing systems and troubleshoot equipment and related instrumentation.
- Must be a "self‐starter" and follow tasks through to completion with little guidance.
- Must be able to work in a team environment to collectively solve problems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, affable, with demonstrated maturity and professionalism.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a small, dynamic team
