Business Development/Sales Director

ZeroAvia is a leader in zero-emission aviation, flying the world’s largest hydrogen-electric aircraft since September 2020. Its focus is the design and commercialization of hydrogen-powered aviation solutions to address a variety of markets, initially targeting short-haul, sub-regional commercial flights up to 500 miles. To date, ZeroAvia has secured the UK CAA and FAA experimental permit to fly for its 6 seat aircraft powered by hydrogen-electric powertrain, passed significant flight tests and is on track for commercial deliveries by 2023. Its achievements to date were rewarded by the UK prime minister by inviting ZeroAvia as a member to the UK Jet Zero Council.

ZeroAvia’s powertrain development focuses on integrating hydrogen storage tanks, fuel cell systems, and electric motors, delivering a solution that will be not only without carbon emissions but also cheaper to operate. Commercializing the solution requires the establishment of a new clean aviation ecosystem, encompassing hydrogen production from renewable energy sources and tackling public perception of safety.

Role

The Business Development/Sales Director will support ZeroAvia in the next phase of our growth by working with our VP of Business Development in a number of different areas:
- Delivery of the Business Development Strategy
- Ownership of a defined region
- Establishing and developing new customer relationships
- Managing complex sales Campaigns
- Deal Closing

Main responsibilities
- BD Strategy Delivery – Work as part of the BD team to define the potential customers and partners for the target region and create a plan for the delivery of deals within the region.
- Region Ownership - Owns all business from the region and takes ownership for the full regional performance.
- Customer Relationships - Owns the customer relationship and has a proven ability to hunt and deliver new relationships within existing and potential customers.
- Sales Campaign Management - Has total ownership for the management of a sales opportunity from identification, through the cycle to contract.
- Deal Closing - Has the proven ability to close complex deals including new OE sales and long-term service agreements.

Experience and qualifications:

Essential
- Commensurate level of professional experience in a sales environment with a background in securing complex sales deals.
- Demonstrable experience within the Aerospace Industry.
- Demonstrable experience of interpersonal, communication, diplomacy, influencing, and negotiating skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Highly motivated team player and willing to take on any task and able to operate in a start-up environment under own initiative.
- Broad business acumen.
- Ability to prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
- Experience with strategy, problem-solving, commercial analysis
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Flexible approach to work and a high level of drive and ambition to help achieve the organization's goals
- A genuine passion for clean technology and the future of electric aviation
- A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity

Preferred
- Engineering bachelor’s degree qualification (or higher)
- Background in Aero Engine Sales or DER/PMA component sales
- Relationships with Aircraft operators, large & small from Turboprop to Turbofan.
- Enthusiasm for cleantech and sustainability in Aviation.
- MBA qualification
