Who We Are:

The world’s economies must transition to zero-carbon. With real estate representing 65% of global wealth and 40% of carbon emissions, there is no carbon-free future without carbon-free buildings. This is why we exist, and why we need you.

Audette is creating carbon reduction plans for every existing building on the planet. We apply building science and machine learning to model the most important features that contribute to carbon emissions. Our platform turns data into retrofit strategies for commercial real estate’s zero-carbon future.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated Building Performance Analyst to help generate actionable Carbon Intelligence for our data partners. Reporting into the Director of Engineering, you’ll play a pivotal role in encoding building science expertise into our platform, moving the decarbonization industry beyond traditional spreadsheet-based approaches and generating valuable insights at scale. You will be given ownership of key development objectives and the agency to explore solutions in pursuit of customer value.

What you’ll do:
- Identifying decarbonization strategies for a wide range of buildings, considering technical feasibility, measure financial performance, and local regulatory requirements
- Growing a library of energy efficiency, electrification, load flexibility, and renewable energy strategies for achieving net zero emissions within a building
- Exploring opportunities to provide hourly or sub-hourly Carbon Intelligence, moving beyond the traditional typical monthly or annual timescales
- Training machine learning models to accurately identify building features and programming knowledge systems to make decarbonization recommendations
- Collaborating with our software and data teams to ingest and combine disparate data sources to uncover Carbon Intelligence for customers

What’s in it for you?

Impact, Influence & Ownership - This is a ground-floor opportunity where your contributions will directly affect not only the success of the company but the community as well. You will create frameworks and foundational services that will grow to planetary scale. Your expertise will be vital to our success and will support strategic decision making. You will work on challenging problems with a team of building science and software engineers. You will have a major impact over our technology, product and company culture.

_Growth and Development _- Our rapid growth offers career development and mobility both upward and laterally. We believe in supporting our people with their career goals every step of the way, and we are committed to long term success with each person.

_Collaboration _- Work with a diverse, cross-functional, multidisciplinary team of smart, motivated humans. We believe that diversity and inclusion are critical to success and we strive to ensure everyone has a voice.

What you bring:

Experience: You’ve been in many commercial buildings with the ability to produce ASHRAE Level 1 energy audits as if it is second nature while bringing working knowledge of renewable energy credit and carbon offset markets. You've worked through implementation of your recommendations and recognize the potential real-world complications that can arise, and love overcoming a good challenge. You have strong analytical skills combined with an understanding of emerging low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, renewables, storage, load management, etc. You may have worked with a startup before, understanding that an ambiguous environment needs someone who can take initiative and problem solve, reaching out for support when needed to action things quickly.

You will also have recent experience with:
- Energy Modeling Software Packages (e.g. preferrably EnergyPlus, but IESVe or eQUEST experience is acceptable, etc)
- Python, SQL, Statistics, Machine Learning concepts, etc

Growth Mindset. You are open to new ideas and motivated to take on challenges, thriving in an ambiguous environment. You’re excited to utilize cutting edge technology, and to be continuously learning and growing. You can research and apply best practices, document and implement processes, drawing on past insights and sharing knowledge with your team.  You respond to change by adapting and can quickly pivot when the situation calls for it. With a strong commitment to value delivery, you have the confidence that allows you to take risks and grow when facing difficult challenges and missteps.

Leadership skills.  At Audette we believe everyone is a leader. You understand the impact of collective ownership and have both outstanding and mindful communication skills. You can build trusting relationships across every level, leading by example and influencing engagement. You are comfortable communicating your carbon reduction measure recommendations to diverse audiences, and through all this you hold yourself to high standards of accountability and critical thinking.

Together, we’re creating something unprecedented to tackle a huge global problem. To make this happen, we strive to create a best-in-class workplace in many areas, including continuous skills improvement, servant leadership, empathic communication, high-trust culture, a values-based performance framework, and more.

We know not everyone gains their education and skills the traditional way, especially those within a marginalized group, so if you feel you have most of the qualifications we are looking for and you are ready to make a difference, submit your application. We promise to consider the full scope of who you are and what you bring.

Audette is committed to creating an inclusive employee experience for all. Regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or parental responsibilities, we firmly believe that our work is at its best when everyone feels free to be their most authentic self.
