About the team

The Machine Learning team (Yoda) is responsible for maintaining and expanding time series forecasting and anomaly detection capabilities at Stem. The Yoda team is run by a team of enthusiastic and experienced data scientists, backend engineers, test automation engineers and a product owner.

What we are looking for

The Backend Engineer will be part of Stem’s machine learning team, and will co-develop time series forecasting and anomaly detection capabilities at Stem.

They will work on expanding hyperparameter tuning, model training and inference pipelines, writing backend code to support services using thousands of ML models currently in production at Stem.

This individual will work closely with the head of machine learning and simulations and cross-functional team members to drive the technical direction of the forecasting capabilities of the Athena platform.

Responsibilities
Along with other s/w engineers you will:
- Develop and deliver timeseries forecasting and anomaly detection solutions on AWS, leveraging Kubernetes and other state of the art technology platforms,
- Creating new microservices or expanding existing service capabilities in Python
- Integrate with external data sources, build ML ops pipelines, Cloud services and contribute to a developer experience that accelerates productivity and product quality.

Your new development environment will include:
- AWS Cloud and microservices
- Modern deployment stacks like Docker, Kubernetes
- Programming languages including Python, and Java
- Machine learning platforms

Required Experience
You recognize yourself in these qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing cloud based applications
- MS or BS Computer Science
- Experience with Python and/or Java
- Familiar with microservices and Restful APIs
- Worked with SQL and other data stores
- Practiced the Agile methodology
- Previous experience writing APIs and micro-services

We don’t expect you tick the box for every item, but we like these too:
- Experience with the AWS Cloud Services
- Knowledge of containerized Docker apps and/or Kubernetes
- Machine learning lifecycle platforms (e.g. MLFlow, Databricks AutoML)
- Experience maintaining online and offline feature stores (e.g. Feast)
